Improved Dynamics in the 180 Hz NLC Damping Rings

چکیده
Adding a field gradient to the main dipoles for the NLC Main Damping Ring lattice has leads to significant improvements in the dynamic behavior of particles in the lattice. We describe the properties of the new lattice, including some initial estimates of alignment tolerances required to achieve the desired vertical emittance. Damping Ring Design for NLC at 180 Hz Repetition Rate November 2000
An increase of the NLC repetition rate from 120 Hz to 180 Hz while keeping other interaction point parameters unchanged will require changes in the design of the damping rings to provide an increased damping rate. In this note, we describe an initial lattice design for a ring that provides the required damping at 90 Hz. Two such rings, operated in series or in parallel, would provide the requir...
متن کاملWigglers and Single-particle Dynamics in the Nlc Damping Rings
Wiggler insertions are expected to occupy a significant portion of the lattice of the Next Linear Collider (NLC) Main Damping Rings (MDR) and have a noticeable impact on the single-particle beam dynamics. Starting from a realistic 3D representation of the magnetic fields we calculate the transfer maps for the wigglers, accounting for linear and nonlinear effects, and we study the beam dynamics ...
متن کاملElectron Cloud Effect in Damping Rings of Linear Colliders
Design of Linear Collider projects are in progress as a world wide collaboration. There are two possibility for the linear collider scheme: one is normal conducting cavity with X/C band power source, and another is superconducting cavity with L band power source. A positron damping ring storages positron beam during several damping time and extracts the beam with a very low emittance to a main ...
متن کاملEffects of Systematic Multipole Errors on the Dynamic Aperture of the NLC Main Damping Rings
Recent work on designs of dipoles, quadrupoles and sextupoles for the NLC Main Damping Ring has led to estimates of the systematic multipole components in the fields of these magnets. We report on studies of the effects of these multipoles on the dynamic aperture of the damping ring, and show that the systematic multipole components in the present magnet designs are unlikely to be a severe limi...
